چکیده
Abstract The assessment of drought hazards is important due to their socio-economic impacts on water resources, agriculture, and ecosystems. In this study, the effects changing area canopy Lake Urmia watershed in northwest Iran have been monitored evaluated. For purpose, Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) was calculated short medium periods (1-month 3-month) determine dry-spell basin. reviewing analysis, annual average has examined Furthermore, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) remote sensing data were used calculate Normalized Difference Vegetation (NDVI), Enhanced (EVI), Water (NDWI), Temperature–Vegetation–Dryness (TVDI) identify body, level, vegetation changes during 20 years (2000–2020). Pearson correlation coefficient also employed explore relationship between sensing-derived indices. According results 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 had experienced dry spells NDWI showed that maximum happened its minimum recorded 2014. variation NDVI values highest cover estimated be 2,850 km2 in.2000, lowest value 1,300 in.2014. EVI TDVI while observed 2012 Also, analysis SPI with NDVI. Meanwhile, 1-month a higher than 3-month EVI. As concluding remark, more suitable indices monitor drought-related area. can make sound decisions regarding rapid water-related

Monitoring Meteorological Drought in Iran Using Remote Sensing and Drought Indices
Drought is a major environmental disaster in many parts of the world. Knowledge about the timing, severity and extentof drought can aid planning and decision-making. Drought indices derived from in-situ meteorological data have coarsespatial and temporal resolutions, thus, obtaining a real-time drought condition over a large area is difficult. This studyused advanced very high resolution radiom...
متن کاملAssessment of Vegetation Temperature Status (VTCI) for monitoring drought in the watershed of Lake Urmia by using MODIS satellite imagery
Continuous decline in Lake Urmia water levels In recent years, the decline of rainfall and river flows and constant droughts has become the main concern of the people and the people. To study climate change and increase of temperature in the catchment area of Lake Urmia, two factors for measuring the temperature and properties of satellite images were used which indicate the importance of lan...

Background and objectives: Vegetation is one of the most important elements of an ecosystem, which is directly related to the moisture conditions of the land. Estimation of plant drought indices such as VCI, TCI, VHI is an effective tool to assess the effects of drought by calculating NDVI. In this regard, several studies have been conducted that explain how to calculate and use these indicator...

متن کاملDrought Monitoring Using Vegetation Indices and MODIS Data (Case Study: Isfahan Province, Iran)
Drought is a major problematic phenomenon mostly for semi-arid areas of Iran. During drought periods, reduction in vegetation levels causes such problems as soil erosion, surface runoff, flood risk, etc. Therefore, the assessment of drought effects on plant covers is the most important issue. This research was conducted in 2015 using the extracted vegetation indices from Moderate Resolution Ima...
